Post Holiday Happiness

I don't know about most of you, but I always feel like I'm being tugged between exhaustion and excitement about the new year in January. Too much of everything (food, parties, last minute gift buying) combined with the darkness of the skies and the cold makes me want to rush toward spring and something new and bright.

And apparently I'm not alone. I've had a few customers express a need or wish to come into the shop and be told what they should work on. So, without further ado, enter the Yarn Story.

Every month we will be featuring a yarn, a project and a book. This month, our featured yarn is Ava from Anzula Luxury Fibers from Fresno, California. Ava is a superwash merino/cashmere/nylon in sportweight- perfect for this month's project, the mala cowl.

Our book of the month is Liza Laird's Yoga of Yarn- A Knitter's Handbook for Self-Discovery. Inside, you will find movements to prepare the body for knitting, meditations with a knitting twist, yoga philosophy, breathing techniques for centering, knitting patterns to support mindfulness and much more!

For myself, I have enjoyed the book because Liza's personal story is compelling and she's simply a lovely writer. The mala cowl pattern resides in Part 1 of this book. It is a simple, satisfying project.

Here's to a warm and bright January. Come see us!

Cheers!
